“The only way to overcome is to hang in,” shares breast cancer survivor Dan O’ Brien. It’s a silent killer which sometimes goes unnoticed for years. It can be in your system months or even years before you’re able to detect it. This October, let us make more women aware of breast cancer and perhaps save a life or two.
“The PINK RUN: D’Feeting Breast Cancer” is an advocacy run organized by the Philippine Society of General Surgeons. It will be held at Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill, Taguig City on October 5, 2014. This is a running activity aimed at raising funds and raising awareness against breast cancer.”
During the presscon (which I was unfortunately unable to attend), I was told there was an ice breaker activity, wherein the different bloggers and representatives from the media were given a symbolic token, which was a pink measuring tape. They used this to measure their waistlines, chest and hips. The measurements were collected and on October 5,2014, the day of the race, these people shall once again be measured. The top 10 biggest loosers will be rewarded on with UA Gear and other sponsoring brands. The pink tape measure symbolizes “awareness”as we take the initiative to asses our own physical well being to be fit and healthy not only for ourselves but also for our family.
