Big Art with Water Pistols and Spray Bottles
by Cheryl Villareal on Jun 18th, 2011
I always love using things found around the house when doing art activities. The kids always look surprise when I hand it to them and tell them to play with it. It's as if they're thinking, "Mommy's gonna get mad!".... "Are you sure?" - For this activity, I decided to make use of sponges, water pistols, spray bottles, roller brushes and scrubs! Whatever I saw lying around... I used! And the kids had so much fun using them too! - What ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (3 )

Digging for Gummy Worms!
by Cheryl Villareal on Jun 16th, 2011
Worms are often a child's favorite play thing and an adult's worst nightmare! I remember playing with worms and caterpillars myself when I was younger...but now that I'm all grown up, I can't even imagine touching one! However, as a preschool teacher... I think this is one of the fears we have to overcome! - As long as none of my children ask for it or we don't into such a situation, I'd rather not play with worms! (haha) But I wouldn't wan...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Sand Bottles with Rock Salt
by Cheryl Villareal on Jun 7th, 2011
I'm sure most of you have already seen sand bottles whenever you go to the beach or just randomly displayed in houses or restaurants. I've been very fond of these since I was young and have always been curious how they were made. As I grew older, I also slowly realized how it wasn't so difficult to make after all. - Now that I knew how to make it, it was time to let the kiddos try it out! The thing is, I didn't have enough sand! The sand I ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

Silly Foot and Hands Lobster
by Cheryl Villareal on Jun 1st, 2011
Summer reminds me of the beach and all the wonderful sea animals. Often, we do fish projects and crafts in school that we neglect all the other beautiful sea animals. So this time, why not try something new? Why not make a silly little lobster with those little hands and feet! I saw the idea from Moments of Mommyhood and I instantly knew I had to try it! - What you will need Red paint Paint brush White paper Eyes and mouth print o...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Starfish Art with Rock Salt
by Cheryl Villareal on May 27th, 2011
I remember being so amazed with starfishes when I was younger. I used to think they were just star-shaped rocks! I was so curious how they moved and how they become "alive". It was only when I visited a beach during my teen years that I finally saw starfishes move and even piling up one over the other! They were really fun to watch and are something you can't miss during the summer season. - So for our theme on sand and sea, we decided to have ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

by Cheryl Villareal on May 21st, 2011
DISCLAIMER: I am not the author of this blog, rather, it is a shared blog by my good friend Joy Waniwan - I am supposed to be doing my project for my grad school right now when I realized the date – four more days until Moving Up Day, the final event of the school year. It made me look back on all that’s happened for the past ten months. - This school year has been really tough for me - maybe the most difficult year since I st...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Watercolor Jellyfish Painting
by Cheryl Villareal on May 15th, 2011
Our theme for the week was sand and sea! I saw several wonderful ideas that I wanted to try, and this was one of it! When I first saw this through TeachPreschool.org, I wondered if the little ones would be able to do it. It looked fairly easy, but then again... maybe not. Still, I decided to give it a go. Regardless of how it turns out, the important thing is that they tried and they had fun! What made this activity great is the unique way of ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Flower Pendants for Mom
by Cheryl Villareal on May 7th, 2011
They say jewelry is a woman's best friend. To a mom, jewelry is great but not necessary. However, handmade and personalized jewelry from the kids... now that's a lifetime treasure! Just moments ago, I shared a post on making THUMBPRINT HEART PENDANTS/NECKLACES. This is a perfect gift for mother's day or for any other occasion if you ask me! So, since we had so much fun making these, I decided to experiment a little. After our tutoria...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )
