Discovery Channel’s Vertical 10k Run
by Cheryl Villareal on Jan 25th, 2012
I started hearing about vertical runs late 2010.I was curious what it was and soon learned that vertical runs were runs that required runners to literally run in a vertical manner, or put simply – TO CLIMB STAIRS! The first thing that came to mind was, “who in his right mind would run up several flights of stairs?!” Well, apparently A LOT of people, both long time runners and new runners were eager to take the challenge. But hey, if you mis...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Race for the Orphans
by Cheryl Villareal on Jan 23rd, 2012
As a teacher, I know how important education is for the young children. Though several only think it is the latter years that are important, studies have shown that it is the early years of education that mold the child to the person he or she will grow up to be. For most of you reading this post, you have been blessed with a strong foundation and good education that will help get you through the rest of your lives. For several others however,...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

My First Marshal Experience at Greentennial’s Rescue Run!
by Cheryl Villareal on Dec 31st, 2011
Just 2 weeks ago, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan was hit with a huge typhoon that destroyed several homes and took away thousands of lives. Typhoon Sendong was one of the strongest to ever hit the two places, and they sure weren’t ready for it. In the spirit of bayanihan, everyone else tried to help out by sending donations in cash and kind. Others even experienced going to Mindanao and seeing the damage first hand. For the running comm...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Rescue Run: Community Run for Typhoon Sendong Victims
by Cheryl Villareal on Dec 24th, 2011
An entire town was nearly wiped out after a strong typhoon hit them just days ago. While I was comfortably hanging around with friends and “Facebooking”, THOUSANDS of people were fighting for their lives. I was shocked to come home and read all about it in the news… worse to even see videos of the people who lost their families, loved ones and home during the tragedy. Typhoon Sendong left at least 3,000 dead and thousands others homeless in...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

People of today’s generation have become very comfortable with GPS! In fact, we are so comfortable with it that we have it on almost ALL of our gadgets –in our cars, on our laptops and on our phones! Soleus Sports Watch: “Giving Runners Everything We Need and Nothing We Don’t!”
by Cheryl Villareal on Dec 5th, 2011
First and foremost, what does Soleus mean? I've heard the term, and I've even seen their team in several fun runs throughout the year, but I've never really thought about the meaning of the word. To me, Soleus was simply a sports watch. Well, for those of you who didn't know, the word soleus is actually a muscle in our body. It is a powerful muscle in the back part of the lower leg (or calf) and runs just below the knee all the way ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Perfect The Way We Are…
by Cheryl Villareal on Dec 3rd, 2011
For the past few days, I’ve been listening to the song PERFECT by Pink. I especially love the rendition of YouTube sensations Cathy Nguyen and Jason Chen. I’ve been trying to write a blog about a previous event I’ve been to, but I keep getting distracted listening and singing (on my own) to this song! Before anything else, let me share the video of the song… - Made a wrong turn, once or twice… dug m...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )
