Fun at Expo Kid II
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 6th, 2010
After a night out with my friends, I got up early on a Saturday morning to head to the Expo Kid II at Rockwell. The event was jam-packed and I honestly wanted to attend all the workshops but knew it wasn't possible due to my tight schedule. So while I was busy deciding, my best friend Patricia suddenly comes up to me and tells me to accompany her to an event. When asked what event, she answered Expo Kid II. Turns out, her student will be leading ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Squeeze Painting
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 4th, 2010
We were on the topic of hands and wanted the kids to something unique. We started off by asking them: "What can your hands do?" They then suggested a variety of things from clapping to building! Some even suggested walking which then led to us trying to walk with our hands! A sure funny scene! We then suggested hugging and squeezing! We hugged the stuffed bears and hugged each other! As for the squeezing, we used those little squeaky toys and tri...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 3rd, 2010
Fruit loops are really good to eat, but they're also fun to play with! I have used fruit loop several times before, and I'm using it again! This time however, we decided to crush the fruit loop and turn it into sand! You may also use colored sand as an alternative, however, using fruit loop takes away the fear that one of our kids might swallow it and get a tummy ache! . . What you will need Fruit Loop Printed picture Crayons G...Read More » Tags Share Comments (5 )

by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 29th, 2010
A few days ago, we were learning all about our hands and how our hands can feel various things! We tried touching soft and hard objects, rough and smooth, hot and cold! But there was something that the kids were not use to feeling everyday! We wanted them to feel sticky, oozy, goo! After touching it and exploring with it, we asked them how it felt. We didn't get a single answer! The goo just left them speechless and in awe. It seemed as if they h...Read More » Tags Share Comments (3 )

by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 25th, 2010
In my past posts, I shared different ways to help children recognize their own names. I shared music, and pre-reading skills.. So this time, let's do some art! It's always important that the kids at least become familiar with the first letter of their names . What you will need: Any small objects that can be glued (bottle caps, sequins, glitter, sand etc.) Print out of their name with the first letter emphasized . . Puffy Ice Cream
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 23rd, 2010
This has grown to be one of my FAVORITE art activities to date! Thank you TeachPreschool for sharing the idea! I always have so much fun watching the kids get down and messy! The way they do their art work also gives teachers a chance to see how the kids really are. We noticed how our naturally messy children did not have a problem getting as messy as possible, while our naturally clean kids were a little conscious as to how to touch the cream! T...Read More » Tags Share Comments (5 )

Handprint Paperweight
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 20th, 2010
What can your hands do? My hands can clap! My hands can roll! My hands can shake! My hands can tap! This was basically how we started our topic on hands! There were even kids who started saying that their hands can WALK. This led us to start trying a variety of nonsense things. We tried walking with our hands; we tried feeding our hands; we tried looking with our hands and more! The kids had so much fun acting silly, trying to let their hands do ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )
