Popcorn Picture Frame
by Cheryl Villareal on Dec 1st, 2010
Who knew there was so much you could do with popcorn? Just a few days ago, I shared our taste activity using popcorn. Today, let me share with you another awesome activity that you may even give as gifts for the coming holidays! I used to make picture frames using uncooked pasta, but it was always difficult to get the pasta to stick with plain glue. I usually used a glue gun. So we thought of using an alternative. Since we had so much leftov...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Taste Test with Popcorn
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 29th, 2010
I'm sure most of you have played the test test game with your students or kids, if not, I'm sure you've at least done it yourself. We let our kids try out different food that taste sweet, sour, salty and bitter. I especially love their reactions when they eat something sour! Thing is, not every child would want to taste something they are either not familiar with, or already know the taste of. So if I lay out some candy, lemon, coffee and potato ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Christmas is just around the corner, and it's time to start taking out your Christmas trees and decorations. Store bought decorations are beautiful, but nothing beats personalized ornaments and crafts by the kids! Here's an easy artwork your toddler can do. You could hang it on the tree or just by the door. You could even hang it on your wall! Thanks to House of Baby Piranha for the awesome idea. - What you will need: Red Cardboard P...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Rainbow Bread
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 24th, 2010
Most kids enjoy painting and doing random art works. At most times, it is the only thing they want to do! Then again, a lot of kids also enjoy cooking. I think the fact that they are not yet allowed to do so on their own is what makes it more exciting for them. Painting and cooking; two great activities on their own. What more fun it would be if we could combine them. Well, who says we can't? My co-teacher and I were trying to come u...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

Toques for the Little Chefs
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 22nd, 2010
Preschool just wouldn't be complete if we didn't get to cook a meal or two right? Kids need not cook difficult dishes to enjoy the experience. Just let them fry some hot dogs or any of their favorite food, and I guarantee they'll have a smile on their face when they're done. In fact, the simpler the meal, the better. It makes them feel that they actually could already cook! Before taking out those pots and pans, we always enjoy dressing up fir...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

First Snip: Learning to Cut
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 19th, 2010
Cutting is an essential skill that each of us needs to learn during our early years. It may be scary at first, but it's easy to get the hang of it. - Children love playing with things they are not supposed to play with. They love touching things they are not supposed to touch. So when we tell them NOT to play with scissors, obviously, we just triggered their curiosity. They do not yet realize that scissors can hurt if not used properly, hen...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Paperplate Watermelons
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 17th, 2010
Here's a cool activity my co-teacher, Sandra Ong shared with me. We took some pictures of the final product but none of it in the making. So let me try my best to put it into words! What you need Watermelon seeds ( "Butong Pakwan" as we call it in the Philippines) Paper Plate Red and Green paint Glue . Step 1: Give the kids the paper plates and let them paint it green and red (you can also already mix the paint with the glue) ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

SM MOA presents Passport to the Universe
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 14th, 2010
Wouldn't it be great if we could all travel the universe? Wouldn't it be great if we could see a star up close? Well now you can! Last November 6, 2010, I was one of the lucky bloggers who was able to view the sneak peek of SM Mall of Asia's Science Discovery Center's newest feature show, PASSPORT TO THE UNIVERSE. This film was made in the US and narrated by Tom Hanks. This was not any ordinary show, simply because it is shown inside the 15...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Triangles on a Triangle Hat
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 13th, 2010
It's always fun to work with collages when we're studying a certain concept. A collage of shapes, collage of numbers and other things that we can think of. However, it can also get boring if we just keep doing the collage over and over again without adding any twists. So for our lesson on triangles, we decided to make a triangle hat! I honestly thought at first that it wasn't going to be a cute activity. I thought it was too simple. But that d...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )
