The Power of Mindset with Chinkee Tan and Francis Kong
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 24th, 2012
“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind” –William James Remember when you were young? You believed you could do anything! You believed you could be a superhero and fly like superman; you believed you could swim in the 10 feet deep pool even if you were only 3 feet tall; you even believed you could understand the secret language your toys used. We were not a...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Blog the Beat 2.0 from Becca Music
by Cheryl Villareal on Mar 29th, 2012
Last year, my brother’s website, WhenInManila.com was invited to attend the first ever BLOG THE BEAT. As one of his senior writers, I took on the project and got to meet several interesting people. Moreover, all attendees in last year’s event were given tickets to watch Switchfoot’s 2011 Manila concert! Nice! BLOG THE BEAT: Bloggers’ Night I usually feel shy and look quiet when attending blog events. Those who know me know tha...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Floating Book Fair and more with Logos Hope
by Cheryl Villareal on Mar 13th, 2012
When I first heard of a floating book fair 2 years ago, I was already ecstatic! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go visit Logos Hope because I was too busy doing my thesis back then. So imagine my joy and excitement when I found out they were back! I visited LOGOS HOPE twice.. once on Friday (March 9) with my co-teachers and again on Saturday with my brother and friends. I had lots of fun browsing though all the books wh...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

Perfect The Way We Are…
by Cheryl Villareal on Dec 3rd, 2011
For the past few days, I’ve been listening to the song PERFECT by Pink. I especially love the rendition of YouTube sensations Cathy Nguyen and Jason Chen. I’ve been trying to write a blog about a previous event I’ve been to, but I keep getting distracted listening and singing (on my own) to this song! Before anything else, let me share the video of the song… - Made a wrong turn, once or twice… dug m...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Inauguration of PCF Technical College – The first CONTAINER-VAN school in the world!
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 13th, 2011
Around 2 weeks ago, I was invited to visit a school located in what used to be the famous SMOKEY MOUNTAINS of Tondo. The term does not refer to a beautiful landscape as that depicted in other countries, instead, the name was given because of the smoking mountains of garbage found in the area. This place has recently been rehabilitated and is hopefully on its way to becoming a more livable place for people. - I was hesitant at first, given i...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

We say Garbage, They say HOME.
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 6th, 2011
I've been staring down this blank page for a while, trying to come up with words to write about a previous event I attended that was held in a poverty stricken area here in the Philippines. I've typed several words only to end up deleting it because I couldn't fully express what I wanted to say. So I decided to write a new post first, and get these feelings out of my chest. - Last week, I attended the inauguration of a school in Tondo. Seei...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Honor and Excellence!
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 9th, 2010
Professor Solita Monsod delivers her last lecture for her class in UP Diliman, Philippines. She delivered a very beautiful speech! Thank you to the person who took the video! Now we can share it with the whole world! "I am only one but I am one, I cannot do everything but I can do something!" Let us keep these words in mind whenever we feel that our small actions will not change anything, because it does and we can make a difference. Just s...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Lost DSLR Reunited with Owner
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 28th, 2010
I wasn't planning to blog about this, but since several people have been asking me what happened to the camera.... here it is! Last Tuesday, September 21, I got into a cab empty handed and walked out with a DSLR camera. It was left behind by the owner, and I decided to take it home. HOLD ON.... I decided to take it home and FIND the owner! I carefully looked through the bag and was disappointed on not finding a cellphone or any item that co...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

Lost and Found DSLR!
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 21st, 2010
So it's a Tuesday night, and I was coming from somewhere in Sta. Mesa on my way to the Blue Water Day Spa bloggers' night. I was frantically in a hurry 'coz I was running really late and I know the traffic in Makati is really bad by this time. (Around 7pm) I originally intended to stay home and rest but changed my mind at the last minute...(I think this was my "destiny" haha) . I entered the cab and told the driver where to take me. I was s...Read More » Tags Share Comments (12 )

Average is the New Exceptional!
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 4th, 2010
A beautiful speech from an average student of Binghamton University! Take time to watch this and really understand the power each of us has. Never underestimate yourself... never underestimate your students... we are mostly average people who simply need a little push to do the extraordinary! You don't need to be someone BIG to make a change, you just need to be who you are. "Average is knowing that you don't receive respect, you EARN it. ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )
