Run United 2 Race Details and Race Expo 2012
by Cheryl Villareal on May 3rd, 2012
It’s time one again for RunRio’s Run United Series! I’m still so sad that I missed the first leg of this year.. After 2 years of completing the series, it sucks to have missed one. Oh well! What makes Run United/ Run Rio races the best? The infamous Rio dela Cruz did not start out having the best races, there were several bumps and burns here and there. However, what made his races become the best is his abil...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Outbreak Manila: I survived the Zombie Apocalypse!
by Cheryl Villareal on Apr 19th, 2012
Last April 14, around 5,000 innocent runners participated in Outbreak Manila – an unusual, light trail run with few obstacles along the route. However, though the obstacles may have slowed us down, the hoard of the undead hungry for human flesh definitely sped us all up! An average person could finish running a 5k course in 30-45min., I personally set my PR at 30min., but last April 14, people were breaking their all-time best as the...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Ridiculously Photogenic Guy, Zeddie Little TV Interview
by Cheryl Villareal on Apr 13th, 2012
Over the past couple of weeks, the picture of this really good looking, semi "Jake Gyllenhaal" look-alike guy has been flooding Facebook pages! I don't blame the people for wanting to share his photo! Girls have even gone gaga for him to the extent of asking him to marry them! Unfortunately for the ladies though... Zeddie is GAY! (KIDDING!!!) Seriously though, he's in a serious 5 year relationship with his girlfriend! Aww... Ridiculo...Read More » Tags Share Comments (764 )

Takbo para sa mga Bayaning Guro
by Cheryl Villareal on Mar 15th, 2012
Being a teacher is a lot of fun! I get to hang out with my students, play with them, do art activities, etc. However, being a teacher can also be A LOT of work. We don’t just teach the kids for the sake of getting it done… we teach because we want our kids to learn. Teaching really is a WORK OF HEART. It’s something you can only do if it really is your passion. We don’t get paid by the numbers… we get paid by constant hugs from the kids...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

Free Running Clinic at the Newly Opened Runnr Store in Alabang Town Center
by Cheryl Villareal on Mar 2nd, 2012
“Yes! Finally, Runnr has opened in Alabang!” This is one of the status messages I saw on Facebook as soon as news of the new Runnr store was out. Somehow I feel like all the good and known stores are at the Fort Bonifacio Taguig… though it’s good that everything is already there, runners from farther areas do have a difficult time getting here. I can imagine the relief several runners had when they learned of the opening of Runnr. YES! ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

RunRio Trilogy Awards Night at Silver City
by Cheryl Villareal on Feb 26th, 2012
WOW WOW WOW!! First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS to all the runners who completed the farthest distances in the 3 legs of the Run United Trilogy last 2011! I wonder when I’ll be able to do that? Runners who completed the trilogy were all given a loyalty shirt from RunRio, I was proud to be one of the recipients. On the other hand, runners who completed the 21k/21k/32k distances respectively in all three races were invited to...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

The Little Running Teacher in Runner’s World Philippines
by Cheryl Villareal on Feb 19th, 2012
October 19, 2011…As part of my daily routine, I checked my email and was surprised to see a message from an unfamiliar person with the subject “Feature for Runners’ World Philippines”. I quickly opened it and almost fell out of my seat with excitement after reading the message. In case you couldn’t read the small font, the message says, “Hi Cheryl, I’m working on a story for Runner’s World Philippines that ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (555 )

Valentines Day is coming up! Got that special someone you have in mind? Your heart probably skips a beat every time you think of that special someone. Well, for some kids and patients at the Philippine Heart Center, their hearts have just been broken. So maybe this year, we can think of them. Discovery Channel’s Vertical 10k Run
by Cheryl Villareal on Jan 25th, 2012
I started hearing about vertical runs late 2010.I was curious what it was and soon learned that vertical runs were runs that required runners to literally run in a vertical manner, or put simply – TO CLIMB STAIRS! The first thing that came to mind was, “who in his right mind would run up several flights of stairs?!” Well, apparently A LOT of people, both long time runners and new runners were eager to take the challenge. But hey, if you mis...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )
