Paperplate Watermelons
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 17th, 2010
Here's a cool activity my co-teacher, Sandra Ong shared with me. We took some pictures of the final product but none of it in the making. So let me try my best to put it into words! What you need Watermelon seeds ( "Butong Pakwan" as we call it in the Philippines) Paper Plate Red and Green paint Glue . Step 1: Give the kids the paper plates and let them paint it green and red (you can also already mix the paint with the glue) ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Triangles on a Triangle Hat
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 13th, 2010
It's always fun to work with collages when we're studying a certain concept. A collage of shapes, collage of numbers and other things that we can think of. However, it can also get boring if we just keep doing the collage over and over again without adding any twists. So for our lesson on triangles, we decided to make a triangle hat! I honestly thought at first that it wasn't going to be a cute activity. I thought it was too simple. But that d...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Animal Noses Finger Puppets
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 11th, 2010
This is an activity I found on another blog site once again. I unfortunately saw it a long time ago and no longer remember what site it was! Send a reply if you think this came from your site and I would gladly acknowledge you. Children usually enjoy pretend play. Younger children still find it difficult but they still enjoy the funny games and cute toys used. Since we were learning all about our noses, we decided to let them try making their ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Sweet Paint with Powdered Juice
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 8th, 2010
Children, regardless of the age, love painting! Their paintings vary from shapes, to everyday objects, or even just abstract art! As long as there's a paintbrush in hand, you can only expect a masterpiece to follow! However, as much as we want them to have all the fun possible, paint can be difficult to wash of at times and also not good to eat! Toddlers would put ANYTHING in their mouths and this is one of those things we never want them to tast...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Paper Flowers Smell Good too!
by Cheryl Villareal on Nov 7th, 2010
It's always nice to stop and smell the flowers every now and then, but wouldn't it be great if we could decorate our own and make them smell the way we wanted them to as well? Well now you can! . What you need: Flower Patterns Scissors Crayons Cotton Popsicle Sticks Glue Perfume/Cologne . Step 1: For younger kids, you can hand them a pattern to color. While for older kids, you can let them draw it themselves and cut it...Read More » Tags Share Comments (4 )

Creepy Spider (Daddy Long Legs)
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 30th, 2010
Recently, I posted an activity about a cute little spider. It was really fun to make and was originally meant to be a little creepy, but due to the kids' demands, we put a smile on it and it evolved into a cute little spider! However, since it IS Halloween, I thought we could make another spider that looked more realistic. This was another activity done with my adorable tutee, Peggy. The activity is not only fun, but it also helps develop fine mo...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Elephant Mask
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 25th, 2010
If you're a preschool teacher, then ELMER by David McKee is one story I think you should know! The story may be a little complicated for toddlers, though it may be simplified. Still, I think it's one of the cutest stories around! Plus, the follow up activities are always so much fun to do! After reading this story to the kids, we decided to make some masks and look just like Elmer! My partner found the pattern from the internet, and I suggeste...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

Creepy and Cute Spiders
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 18th, 2010
Halloween is coming up so we decided to make some creepy spiders! I didn't do the activity with my usual toddler class... instead I did it with my 7 year old tutee and her 2 year old brother. Before beginning the activity, you can always sing the famous Itsy Bitsy Spider! Older kids might find this boring, but my 2 year old student sure loves this song! I always like pretending my hands are spiders and then I start tickling the kids! The kid...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Splatter Painted Shoes
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 13th, 2010
We all need shoes... and from this need, our wants grow! Wanting to have new and cute shoes... wanting to give our kids new and cute shoes too! But, since the kids grow up so quickly, these shoes also quickly shrink! (Yes, the shoes shrink!..kiddin' of course) So what do we do with these shoes? Give them away or throw them in the garbage! Well, just before letting these go, why not have a fun and messy art activity with the kids first! . Wh...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Box Kicking Art
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 7th, 2010
Toddlers are still learning the different skills their body can perform. Jumping, walking, running are some of the activities that they are still learning to perfect. Throwing objects is part of these skills, and so is kicking things. To adults, kicking is just like walking with force! It's a very simple task for us, but for these kids, kicking means letting loose of what foot and making sure the other foot is able to keep balance! Here's anot...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )
