Earth day run last year was a blast! There were thousands of runners all joined together for one common cause… TO HELP SAVE THE EARTH! Various groups come up with random ideas to help save planet earth, regardless of how strong or weak the idea is, they all make some sort of impact to the people. In this case, we all RAN FOR OUR PLANET.

In its third year, Solar Entertainment Network’s is proud again to bring you Earth Run, only this time… it’s going NATIONWIDE! Three legs to be held in three areas in the Philippines: Metro Manila, Davao and Cebu. Last year, they targeted around 4,000 runners and ended up instead with 8,000 runners to join together in supporting our planet!… and that’s just the Manila leg! This year, we all hope that number increases as it gets even bigger and better! Divided between the networks three banner channels, ETC, 2nd Avenue and Jack TV, now runners and nature lovers from around the country can come together and run for a good cause.

Just as they have for the past 2 years, Earth Run will once again be for the benefit of the Greenpeace foundation. To those unfamiliar with it, Greenpeace is an international environmental organization that acts to change attitudes and behavior, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. Here in the Philippines, the organization and its supporters are focused on promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency, a nuclear-free Philippines, and keeping waterways clean. Could you imagine a Philippines like that? Heck, could you imagine MANILA like that? Nuclear-free and waterways clean? I look forward to the day!

Trophies will be given to the Top 3 male and female finishers of each distance category courtesy of Cherifer Premium Capsule, while medals shall be given out to all finishers of the 21k race.
As for those not in Manila, you also have the Davao and Cebu leg to look forward to! Jack TV will be hosting Earth Run 2011 on October 9, Sunday and ETC will be hosting Earth Run 2011 on December 11, Sunday.
