Tomorrow, September 26, 2010 will be the licensure exam for teachers here in the Philippines. I have a couple of friends who will be taking the exam, and I just want to wish you all a good luck.

The Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) is an examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to determine who among the education graduates in the Philippines are qualified to teach in schools. According to the law, only those who passed the examination are allowed to teach. This law is strictly followed in private schools, and usually for the secondary and tertiary levels. As for preschool, you mostly just need the passion. Though, some preschools are already requiring their teachers to be LET passers as well.

.

An examinee must obtain an average rating of not less than 75 % and must have no rating lower than 50 % in any of the tests. So make sure you try your best and don’t hover too long on one item.

.

I took the LET (licensure exam for teachers) last year…. for several months I was really nervous but never found enough time to review. I had studied a bit… but I know I also could have studied more! The days started passing and soon, the big day had arrived. I wasn’t really sure how I’d be, I felt really scared that I wouldn’t pass. But then I also told myself that I worked 3 years for this! I studied and did research for 3 years in a prestige university! I am meant to be a teacher! And if the job really is for me, than my 3 years of hard work would pay off!

.

So to all the LET takers… don’t worry too much! If you studied hard in college… and you’re really passionate about it, the answers will come to you!

Anyways, don’t forget to bring the following for your exam:

  • Notice of Admission
  • Application Stub
  • PRC Official Receipt
  • Two or more pencils (No.2)
  • Eraser
  • Ballpens with BLACK INK ONLY
  • One (1) piece Metered-Stamp Window Envelope
  • One (1) piece Long Brown Envelope
  • One (1) piece Long Transparent (non -colored) Plastic Envelope (to keep above items)

.

Also, the proctors allow examinees to EAT while taking the exam, so bring a quick snack and some water as to avoid hunger pains while taking the test. It’s also better to bring your own lunch ‘coz for some testing sites, the food isn’t too good and is a little pricey, while restaurants might be a little far.

Get to the testing site at least 30 minutes before your time! My proctor still entertained the late comers, but I’m not sure if others will. In any case, it’s always better to be early than late!

Most importantly, say a quick prayer and relax! Good luck teachers!
