When I think of motherhood, the first image that comes to mind is that of a sweet baby peacefully sleeping in my arms – tiny little fingers, cute little nose, funny little giggle and more. We think of all these wonderful things and feel all giddy and excited, but we forget how much work also needs to be put in.

We were taught about the “baby-making” process in high school, and were even given detailed explanations of how babies are formed, but we were never taught what to do after. Hence, entering the world of motherhood is like stepping into the world of unknown. Everything becomes an experiment and even trial and error. Your best weapon is to come prepared by reading books or watching online videos that could give you tips.

Project Mom: A Natural Approach to Motherhood

From “It Girls to It Moms”, Amanda Griffin-Jacob and Bianca Araneta-Elizalde share basic tips and tricks on motherhood in their new book Project Mom. Though I have yet to have a baby of my own, I like preparing myself for what’s to come. Moreover, I feel I can connect with my students’ parents more if I have a little knowledge on the topic. Project Mom does not only focus on one aspect of pregnancy, it has a vast array of topics that will help moms and mom-to-be not just with pregnancy itself but pre-birth and post-birth activities as well.

Amanda and Bianca share the usual tips when reading pregnancy books such as pre-natal care, what to eat, what to expect, etc. However, what makes this book special is the fact that these women consider how moms and moms-to-be are still women who want to look and feel good after all. Hence, they also talk about maternity wardrobe, room set ups, pre and post pregnancy workouts, etc.

Packed with an array of tips, tricks, and a comprehensive local directory, the manual also takes a look at breastfeeding and healthy eating, with a special section for mamas. Women can learn how to get their bodies back after pregnancy and attain optimum well-being along with their kids. At the end of it all, Amanda and Bianca hope to make the oft-trod path of motherhood more smooth sailing than anything else.

Amanda shares her sentiments, “Motherhood is one of the best things that will happen to you in your life. Don’t worry; you’ve got this Mama (with a little help from us on the way)!”
