Technology is a good thing, there are a lot of things we were unable to do 10 years ago that are really easy to do nowadays. We can’t complain that technology really gave us a push into the sci-fi world we were only dreaming about a couple of years ago. But all good things have limits, and technology has several downsides as well.
I know a bunch of friends who love using foursquare. Through GPS, your exact location is automatically posted online. I personally am not a fan of this as I fear the dangers of the entire world knowing where I am. Parents and teachers should share the same feeling with me after seeing this.

I found this video through my friend. It basically explains how one uploaded photo via cellphone can already enable strangers to locate EXACTLY where you are and other locations you often visit. It showed how with just a click of the mouse, these investigators where able to locate the little girl’s bedroom, daycare center and even her favorite spot in the playground! This proves to be very dangerous especially for kids as pedophiles lurk nearby.
“New technology can allow hackers to track down you and your kids even from a simple email. The technology allow strangers to cherry pick from online pictures posted all over the web and then find the home, work or even school of the person in the pick.”

It’s really scary but it can be turned off. Make sure you put all your settings into private… especially on Facebook! Even then, we’re not sure what information the public gets a hold off… so just try to be as careful as possible. And for kids… go out and play. Quit using Facebook!
