It was my first event ever! My first time to invite supporters and followers and my way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported my blog. Now, what exactly was I to do?

Last Wednesday, April 27 was the first Groovy Wednesday at Blue Water Day Spa. I honestly didn’t think I would be there alone. I figured there would be other hosts to assist me as I myself have never been here. I was nervous. Not only because I realized I had to host the event, but also because I RARELY approach people I didn’t know just to introduce myself. (My brother often gives me a sermon about learning to mingle). Not because I don’t want to meet them or anything, mostly because I feel intimidated. Today however as I stepped foot into the spa, I knew I needed to start talking with the bloggers and winners of my contest. As I entered, I ran into one of the winners, Julie Custodio. I was lucky because she recognized me and asked if I was Cheryl. I then asked her name and we started taking pictures and chatting. Later on, another pair entered, I watched to see if they were to sign in for the Groovy Wednesdays too. And they did. I knew I had to talk to them… but again, my nerves started kicking. What was I gonna say? How do I ask their names? So instead I tried looking their way several times and gave a friendly smile. This was the least I could do to make up for my fear of talking to new people. I later on found out that it was Julius Lao and his companion. A friend of mine even asked me to sit down and I happily rejected the seat saying that I wanted to stand and approach the winners but I didn’t know how. Later on, another pair entered. Again, I looked at them with curiosity, watching if they were signing up as well. But they didn’t. Turned out, they were regular customers who wanted to get a spa.

Then again, another pair entered. I realized later on it was David D’ Angelo. At first, I thought he was a regular customer as he started talking with the staff of Blue Water Day Spa and chatting them up. I thought to myself, “Oh, this must be one of the bosses here!” He looked so prim and proper that I was honestly intimidated. As soon as I saw him sign the sheet, I realized he was one of the winners. So, if I was afraid earlier, imagine how much more afraid I was now. I kept looking his way and gave a friendly smile a time or two. I however, couldn’t get the nerve to talk.

Soon, we were asked to enter while another movie was playing so that we could already relax and wait our turn. Again, I wanted to approach people but there was someone watching the movie and I tried to be as quiet as possible. After a long wait, the movie finally ended and it was time for THE PROPOSAL, the movie I picked. I had a speech in my hand which was given to me just minutes earlier to read in front of everyone. I had no stage fright, but I also had no idea when I was supposed to read it. I imagined the staff would enter and start entertaining everyone and then I would join them and read the card. Unfortunately, after the first movie ended, it automatically continued to play our movie. So, we watched, and we enjoyed.

A 15-minute massage and some iced-tea was served. The massage felt good! I wish it could’ve lasted longer. The aroma and structure of the place, the soft seats… everything was perfect for a relaxing evening. Only, I was so tensed!

After more than an hour, our movie finally ended. Everything was quiet. I moved back and forth on my seat, also awaiting to see if something was going to happen. I stood up and peeked outside imagining again that someone would come in and greet everyone. But I soon realized that no one was coming. I have been waiting since the beginning of the movie, but no one was really coming. This was really ALL on me! ohhhh nooo!! Again, let me mention that I had no stage fright, but I really don’t know how to approach people yet. And so, I stood in front, greeted everyone and said my thank you’s. It was sad that not all the winners made it though, but I have to send out my biggest thanks to those who did.

On a personal note, I want to really thank everyone for coming and for all the support you’ve given. Also, my sincerest APOLOGIES for all the things that went wrong. I know there were several mistakes on my behalf. One of which was caused by allowing my fear to eat me up. (I even imagined a group picture afterward, but all I could do was take stolen shots). I know I could have been more accommodating and I have to apologize once again. On the bright side, this being the first event I’ve ever hosted as a blogger, I am glad to have experienced both the good and bad. The experience here actually taught me a lesson which I immediately practiced the following day. I met around 3 new people the following day and I really tried to be as talkative as possible. One small stepping stone for me I hope. Next time, I’d know what to do. To those who came, allow me to make up for it soon. I will send you an email or PM through Facebook. There were no bad intentions meant. It was just me and my fear of talking to people as well as my cluelessness that I was to host the event (since I just joined the event as well). I promise a better experience next time. Please do accept my apologies.
