I didn’t use to be addicted to running, so I always missed the Condura marathon. Thankfully, I made it this year!

I waited all year last 2010 for the next Condura run. I heard it was good, plus I wanted to help save the dolphins. Finally, registration began and I immediately rushed to the nearest registration center to sign up. I was really looking forward to this run that I even told myself, I was going to beat my PR! Days before the race however, I received news that a couple of my friends from Singapore would be coming home for a visit. That was great news, if only they didn’t plan our get together party (and drinks) on the Saturday before the race. I thought of not running but I really wanted to. So, I partied the night away and took a quick shower before the race. No sleep for me! No PR as well.

5km run
Good thing I just registered for 5km. Had it been longer distances, I might have fainted half way. The run was really good. As I was telling my friend, “Ok lang mahal, basta Rio, sulit” (It’s okay if it’s a little expensive, as long as it’s Rio, it’s worth it). I was not disappointed, and neither was my friend.

Highlights
- Singlet design
- Gun start (It started right on time!)
- Just a few minutes before the 5km gun start, there were fireworks! Beautiful! Call me chummy or whatever, but it got me teary eyed! …and it really put me in the mood!
–
- Different starting points for the different race distances. It was a bit confusing at first, but it made traffic a little less heavy and also made the race more organized.
- Automated timing system
- Hydration booths after almost every one to two kilometers.
- Distance markers. I find these really useful ‘coz it gives me the much needed push.
- Musical band near the finish line
- Several marshals and traffic enforcers
- Finisher’s Medal. I not only loved that there was a medal, but the medal design itself.

- The SKYWAY of course! Though the 3km and 5km runners were unable to experience this, I still feel glad for the other runners! congrats!
- Proper lighting along the entire race course. (I passed by Makati Avenue on the way to BHS, and it was REALLY bright!)
- Lots of freebies. We got magazines, medicines, summit water and more
- Lots of stuff to do after the race. Condura village. Donna Cruz.

- Really nice people. Marshals, officers and others were ready to help with big smiles on their faces
- The dolphin wall. Each runner gets to paint a dolphin or two on the 500 meter wall (which was also back to back)

Things for improvement
- I hope next year, the 3km and 5km runners would also get to experience the skyway.
- and maybe shorter distances such as 500m for kids who also want to join.
