Guess the Smell

Whenever we start discussing about the nose, one of the first activities that come to mind is a SMELLING activity, and this is just that!

We always give much importance to the primary colors and the different tastes, but we fail to realize that knowing the difference scents is also as important. Experts say that it is important to involve toddlers in sensory play that help develop their various senses, including the sense of smell.  Difficulty smelling might mean there is something wrong.

The scent of an object also tells us if it is safe or not. Usually, stuff that smell bad are not to be eaten! Here is a fun activity that will practice the children’s scent of smell!

What you will need:

  • Small containers (puncture holes on the top) or cans of air freshner
  • Variety of scents (Medicine, food, coffee, perfume, etc)
  • cotton balls

Step 1: Dab some scent unto the cotton balls

.

Step 2: Put the cotton balls into the containers. (I found these containers in a shop selling hermit crabs! Supposedly for the crabs)

Step 3: Let the kiddos smell and guess
