They say jewelry is a woman’s best friend. To a mom, jewelry is great but not necessary. However, handmade and personalized jewelry from the kids… now that’s a lifetime treasure!

Just moments ago, I shared a post on making THUMBPRINT HEART PENDANTS/NECKLACES. This is a perfect gift for mother’s day or for any other occasion if you ask me! So, since we had so much fun making these, I decided to experiment a little. After our tutorial session, my tutee asked if we could make a gift for mommy. Hence, we did.

What you will need

  • 1 cup plaster of paris
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Poster Paint
  • Yarn or Nylon thread
  • Circle shaped cookie cutter

Step 1: Mix the plaster of paris and water together

Step 2: Use the cookie cutter or any other circular object to smoothen out the edges

Step 3: Add a little bump on top to insert the nylon or yarn

Step 4: Using the back of a pencil, start punching  into the mold.  Not too deep though, we wouldn’t want to create holes

Step 5: Paint the pendant. I originally just wanted to paint the flower, but my little kid wanted the entire thing filled with color! It actually turned out really nice! :)

Step 6: Tie the knot and it’s ready to wear!

**Here are some other gifts you could also make for mom!
