After weeks of telling everyone that I was not joining my Alma mater’s first run, I decided during the last minute to show some support and register. My co-teacher and fellow Judenite, Jessica decided to join me as well. So since it was a last minute decision, and the last day of registration… singlet sizes had already ran out. We usually get small but ended up with a medium, it usually doesn’t matter but the singlet was really too big for us. So, we had it altered.

Friday and Saturday had been busy days for me, so come Saturday night, I had already developed a slight fever. I wanted to just stay home and skip the run, but I already paid 500 for registration and didn’t want it to go to waste. So I got up at 5am and waited for Jess. We arrived at the race 15-20minutes after gun start! Talk about late! Some runners had already crossed the finish line! I’d normally try to catch up with the other runners but running on a fever was not easy at all! I could usually run a kilometer or two without stopping, but today, I had to stop after almost every 50 meters or less! Really not good. So in the end, I decided to just walk it out. I really didn’t want to risk my health for a run. Sad ‘coz I really wanted that finisher’s medal which was only given to the first 500 finishers.

I was also expecting a lot more from the race, given it was sponsored by St. Jude, PIQC and several others. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a little disappointing for me. First off was the price, a race that costs that much usually has a timing chip or a beneficiary. This race had none. There also weren’t any freebies except the Summit water and 100 plus drink in which you had to get in a long long line for! Well at least there was a photo booth! Oh, and I also liked the bungee jumping thing though I myself did not get to try it. Anyway, it is after all the FIRST run by the school, so I hope the next runs would get better!
