Magic Water
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 31st, 2010
All this holiday talk really gets me hungry! Now I'm sure you've all seen a bunch of Halloween appetizers over the internet. I'm sure you've all tried making some eyeball fruit punch or wormy mud-cakes. But what about something simple...like water? Can a simple glass of water be a Halloween treat! Absolutely! I read about this somewhere, though I no longer recall where I saw it. My apologies. . What you will need Clear cup Food...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Guess the Smell
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 29th, 2010
Whenever we start discussing about the nose, one of the first activities that come to mind is a SMELLING activity, and this is just that! We always give much importance to the primary colors and the different tastes, but we fail to realize that knowing the difference scents is also as important. Experts say that it is important to involve toddlers in sensory play that help develop their various senses, including the sense of smell. Difficult...Read More » Tags Share Comments (0 )

Edible Slime for Halloween
by Cheryl Villareal on Oct 22nd, 2010
Halloween just wouldn't be complete without SLIME! I couldn't miss out on this opportunity! For the past two weeks, my tutee has been begging me to make slime! I think her curiosity started because of Nickelodeon and all the slime they use! So anyway, I figured I'll just have her make goo since it was something I was already familiar with. However, after browsing the internet for more fun activities, I came across a recipe for edible slime... ...Read More » Tags Share Comments (2 )

We made sticky, oozy, goo!
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 29th, 2010
A few days ago, we were learning all about our hands and how our hands can feel various things! We tried touching soft and hard objects, rough and smooth, hot and cold! But there was something that the kids were not use to feeling everyday! We wanted them to feel sticky, oozy, goo! After touching it and exploring with it, we asked them how it felt. We didn't get a single answer! The goo just left them speechless and in awe. It seemed as if they h...Read More » Tags Share Comments (3 )

Puffy Ice Cream
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 23rd, 2010
This has grown to be one of my FAVORITE art activities to date! Thank you TeachPreschool for sharing the idea! I always have so much fun watching the kids get down and messy! The way they do their art work also gives teachers a chance to see how the kids really are. We noticed how our naturally messy children did not have a problem getting as messy as possible, while our naturally clean kids were a little conscious as to how to touch the cream! T...Read More » Tags Share Comments (5 )

Looking through colors
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 17th, 2010
Just recently, I shared a post on binoculars for the kids! This turned out to be a very successful activity! The kids not only enjoyed playing with it, but they also had fun making it! This reminded me of an activity I did last year which I called Looking Through Colors. The materials are teacher-made, and the kids really look forward to using and playing with it. What you will need: Old cardboard or folders cellophane paper P...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )

Binoculars for Kids
by Cheryl Villareal on Sep 12th, 2010
After reviewing what our eyes can do, we decided to let the kids goof around with some binoculars! If you have real binoculars, it'd be great to let them try the real thing before the activity! This would be a first for several of them! My past students would usually take a second look through the binoculars because they can't understand why things are suddenly appearing closer or farther! Afterward, let them make their own to play with! And of c...Read More » Tags Share Comments (1 )
